Painting the Antique Shoe Shop Sign
with Phyllis Hawkes

$85

Friday November 4, 9:00AM-12:30PM

This is a relatively simple painting project measuring 2 9/16" high x1 ½" wide. Students will learn basic brush handling and acrylic painting techniques as well as how to transfer a design, basic lettering techniques and antiquing. You will receive a pre-cut and pre-primed sign board to which you will cut and apply the molding at the top. There will be various colors available to replace the blue of the boot if you wish. Once the painting is complete you will antique and varnish it. All levels of painting experience are welcome.

Student Supplies and Tools Needed: A brush with a very fine point such as 20/0 Silver Ultra Mini Pointed Round (if you have a brush with a very fine point feel free to use it, but for those who don't and/or would like to purchase one, the instructor will have the Silver brushes available for $8). Students will also need a flat brush approximately 1/8" for painting the background and varnish, a sharp pencil, miniature miter box and saw, Tacky Quick Dry glue, fine sandpaper, small water container, plastic cover to use for a palette, paper towels, light and extension cord, magnification and smock or apron if you are messy.
