Workshop 2

Sculpting a Lit Jack-o-Lantern
with Bev Gelfand

Thursday November 2nd  9am -  3pm

It's never too early (or too late) to get into the Halloween spirit! Come join the fun and learn to use polymer clay to sculpt your own original LIT Jack-o-lantern. Students will learn to layer clay over a form, and shape and sculpt the clay to make a realistic looking pumpkin. Once the Jacks are carved, baked, and assembled, we'll detail and age them up a bit with some paint. And for the crowning touch, we'll add a flickering bulb to bring your creation to spooky life! For an added festive bonus, we'll also make a "straw bale" on which to display your creations (and hide the battery and wire!). Class fee includes materials needed to make one lit Jack, and up to two additional unlit Jacks. Additional lighting supplies will be available for purchase.

Student Supplies & Tools Needed: It is requested that students bring the following tools: X-acto knife with a #11 blade, small paintbrushes, scissors, pliers, white glue (stuff like Elmer's or Aleene's Tacky is great), magnifiers if needed, and task lighting if needed. If students have their own sculpting tools they are encouraged to bring them along, but the instructor will have basic tools available to borrow during class.
