Yellow Irises: A Decorative Wall Hanging

with Phyllis Hawkes

Friday November 3rd 9am - 1pm

This is a charming wall hanging of 3 Irises with gold trim. It measures 1 1/8" wide x 2 3/4" high and is painted in acrylic on a prepared wood panel. You will learn brush handling, transferring an image, simple shading techniques, plus lots of other hints and tips. Each student will receive an instruction booklet with step-by-step photos taken as I painted the prototype, plus a description of each step. This painting is somewhat less complex than some of my classes, so if you are new to painting, please feel free to join the class. I know you will learn a lot. More experienced painters will also enjoy painting these flowers. Everyone will come away with a lovely wall hanging.

Student Supplies & Tools Needed: A Silver Ultra Mini Pointed Round 20/0 brush is included in your kit, but feel free to also use your own very fine brushes. You will need to bring a small flat or filbert brush approximately 1/8" or less for painting the background. I will have some to purchase for $9 if you wish; You will also need scissors for paper. Magnification such as MagEyes and light (with extension cord) are recommended and a smock if you are feeling messy. The instructor will provide all other materials.
